AI Use & Editorial Transparency
NAPR studies how organizations use, restrict, disclose, or reject artificial intelligence. Fairness requires NAPR to disclose its own practices as well.
NAPR uses AI
NAPR may use artificial intelligence as a research and operational tool. Uses can include research discovery, source triage, summarization, classification assistance, drafting, software development, data organization, search, editorial planning, and analysis.
AI is not the evidence
An AI-generated answer, classification, summary, or suggestion is not treated as sufficient evidence for a public registry claim. NAPR’s factual records are intended to be grounded in identifiable public sources or other evidence that can be independently reviewed.
Human review before publication
NAPR’s operating standard is that material registry classifications and consequential editorial decisions receive human review before publication. AI may assist the process; it does not independently confer NAPR-0 status or other registry classification.
Source integrity
Where practical, NAPR records the primary source, date discovered, date verified, classification basis, and later policy changes. If an AI system surfaces a claim that cannot be supported by a suitable source, the claim should not be published as verified registry evidence.
Generated and assisted content
NAPR may publish text, software, data structures, summaries, or research materials created with AI assistance. Human editors remain responsible for deciding what is published and for correcting errors brought to NAPR’s attention.
Privacy and confidential information
NAPR should avoid intentionally placing confidential submission content or unnecessary personal information into public AI systems. Operational practices should be reviewed as tools and providers change.
Transparency over purity
NAPR does not claim to be AI-free. Its purpose is to document corporate AI-policy positions accurately, including positions that differ sharply from NAPR’s own use of technology.
